Programs

 

 

The School of Film/Video offers programs in the areas of live-action film and video, animation and directing. Undergraduate programs lead to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree and graduate programs to the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree.

 

Prospective students are invited to apply to one of the following:

 

Program in Film and Video (BFA, MFA)
Program in Experimental Animation (BFA, MFA)
Program in Character Animation (BFA only)
Film Directing Program (MFA only)
Center For Integrated Media

 

Coursework (Course Catalog) for these programs is drawn from more than 120 classes offered by the School of Film/Video each semester. BFA students are required to complete a minimum of 120 semester units, including a series of liberal arts/general education classes. All students also have the option of taking various elective courses offered by the CalArts Schools of Art, Critical Studies, Dance, Music and Theater.

 

To graduate, students must fulfill all program and course requirements and pass regular faculty reviews of their artistic and academic progress.
